New Couch

Billy and I were shopping today and found this awesome green couch! Normally, I think I would have talked myself out of buying it, but our old couch was falling apart. The price was so cheap, only $230! I LOVE it! I think it looks perfect in my living room!!! I am so glad we got it!!!

Light Fixtures (Smile)!!!

Some light fixtures are now up--- after a lot of trips to the hardware store and buying the wrong parts... ect... ect... But, I like them and that is what matters!

Light Fixtures... AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

My dad and I worked all day and only got one light fixture up! I have to say I was having doubts about the chandelier I had bought from Ikea for above the kitchen table, but now that it is up I really like it. The other ones have just been a pain because we haven't been able to get the right parts... Hopefully, tomorrow will be better and we can get them up so I can post pictures.

Adding Character

We were at Billy's childhood home this weekend and we got these from the house- I'm exciting because they add some needed character to your boxy square house!

New House

We finally closed on our new and first house! YEAH! Yesterday, we closed then immediately went and bought paint. Today we spent the entire day painting. We have the first coat on the cabinets and half the kitchen wall painted. The paint colors are not exactly what I thought they would be, but I think I like them anyway. Maybe, I'm just too excited to care!

Living Room

I think I am having to much fun... in anticipation of having a new house I am thinking of ways to decorate our house!!! Here is my living room plan.

Lights

I really want to get this light fixture for our new kitchen. I am still looking for a chandelier for over the table. Maybe this one... or this one.... I think I love most of what I see at Schoolhouse Electric.

Kitchen

Right now I am really drawn to teals, light blues, and greens. In the new kitchen I really want to paint and decorate like Julia Child.

New Home

We are currently in the process of buying our very first house. I'm getting excited about all the possibilities. The rooms are really large and it had almost everything on our want list.

House Hunting cont....

Today we went to see a house for the second time. Looking at the house from the outside it is nothing spectacular, in fact it is rather unspectacular. It is more than I really want to spend at this moment, not in a neighborhood I wanted to consider, only has one bathroom, and has one of the tiniest bedrooms I've ever been in; but for some reason I really like this house. I can see our lives there. I walk in and in the kitchen I just feel at home. There is a big back yard with a swing set, and watching my niece and nephew play on it was just really nice. It has raised flower beds, which isn't hard to create, but I've always wanted them. It has no real details, just a plain box created in the late 60's, but I find it charming. I feel overwhelmed... so I guess for now the house hunt continues.

House Hunting

We are currently house hunting--- As of now I am very disappointed. There have been a couple of houses that we kind of like but nothing we are overwhelmed with yet.

Crazy Storm

I have been cooped up in the house for days. I feel like I'm going stir crazy. We had no internet or cable for days, I felt despondent. It's crazy how addicted I feel and how I feel hopeless without the internet. I had no way of knowing if I had to go to work or if we had the day off school. People's phones were no longer working so we couldn't get a hold of anyone. Trees kept falling everywhere. It was really pretty though. Here are some photos I took.

Getting Ready for Winter

We are currently getting ready for the weather to change cold. Last year, our first year here, we didn't do as much as we should have. So this year I bought curtains to go in the bedroom and the living room to help prevent cold air from coming in.

Recycling

I'm pretty excited- I just found out that I have recycling pick up. Mental note: Tuesday night put out the recycling.

I love our house!!!!!

Last November we moved into a new house. It is so awesome!!! I feel like we moved from our little apartment to a relaxing retreat. Coming home is really a treat. We live in the woods, completely surrounded by trees. If feels like we are in our own little world.
